The Great Run North

It was raining all week all I could think of was driving to QLD in the rain not a good thought then by Thursday it started to clear. Get up at 3 am not much fun in winter meet everyone at 5.30am lets hit the road all we did was drive & eat.

Finally we get to brissy tired & stiff our tour leader John took us on the best trip around the city up hills & down finally lets ring George from the Down Under club where lost, George turns up to take us around the corner to our Motel. Lets eat was the order George had booked us into a Indian restraunt all you can eat after much laughing & watching people eating hot hot curry lets go & wash the cars for the next day.

Up early for breeky down & get the cars, meet everyone from the Corvette QLD club & off to there show down the coast this was a mixed show & shine good turn out of cars great venue Kim Byrnes took out best vette on the day Murray & I got a trophy also.

Warren Stenning showed how good he is behind the wheel of a go-kart the guys a legend passing people on bends wait till you see the footage on the end of year tape. back to the Motel & a rest for an hour then down for dinner with a group of guys from both clubs the restraunt had a karoke bar great effort from the NSW members especially Des's friend John who stole the show with his great voice another late night.

Early start for the Down Unders Concourse on the south side river bank great spot for a car show the quality of cars were of the highest quality & a good turn out I think they had about 100 cars it was good to see our club do well in the trophy dept with Murray & Kim getting 1st's & I got the furthest travelled.

Then back to the motel for a rest & a beer and off for dinner at an italian restraunt & a lot of laughs about the weekend, home to the the motel and sleep up at 4.30am for the drive home.

On the way back we stopped at Warrick for the biggest breakfast I have ever seen even Alan Dures would not have been able to eat them.

All in all it was one off the best weekends I have had away, to every one that went thanks for the laughs & we all got there & back safe & sound, God was it good to get into my bed that night.

I would like to thank the Down Under Club & the QLD vette club for making all of us feel so welcome thanks for everything.
