PRESIDENTS REPORT.

February 2007

As you read this, we will already have seen the first month of the New Year pass by.  I hope you and all your loved ones had a good break.

During the “month off” of January, we still had a few club activities happen.  Nick Zankeiwicz organised a get together of Vette owners at Western Sydney International Dragway for a Wednesday night street meet so interested people could run against other Vettes for a friendly night of “Let’s see what it will do”.  It was an enjoyable night and I understand Nick is looking at organising a similar date in March

As I write this, the All American Day has just passed and despite some fearsomely hot weather we had a good turnout of cars.  Thanks to those people who made the huge effort to come along for one of the years better shows.

Aside from these events there were a few impromptu get togethers organised via the club internet forum (as well as club members meeting up for their annual Summernats pilgrimage).

Cameron has been busy liaising with Bella Vista Centre Management over the break (which is a GO for March 11 at Totally Home Bella Vista) as well as working away on keeping the website and forum up to date.

We can already see we have a busy year ahead of us and are looking forward to starting another season.  Please remember we want to hear what you think – our job is to represent you the members.

Entry to Bella Vista this year is FREE, so if you’d like to come down for what we are aiming to make a great day, please get your forms back to us as soon as possible as we need numbers in advance.  Shirts will also be available to those who would like them at a fee of $25 per shirt.

Many of you got your 2007 Corvette Convention entry in before the New Year to get your discount for early entry, if you didn’t please make the effort to get your entry in when you can so that our friends up North can plan accordingly and their jobs made a little easier and less stressful.  Aside from the South Australian organised Caravan that is picking up the Victorian, Canberra and Sydney Clubs enroute to Brisbane, we will also be co-ordinating some common departure groups/times for those interested in driving up with someone else.  Watch future newsletters for more info (and if you are able, the club website/forum).

Aside from our regular monthly events like the breakfast and BBQ runs (elsewhere in this issue), this month we have the long-standing traditional Bobbin Head Family Picnic Day coming up this month as our run of the month.  This is always a nice relaxed day, so if you have time, come on by in either the Vette or family car and have a great day.

On that note I’ll wind this report up, hope to see you at a club event soon.

Keep the shiny side up

Andrew
