Our July monthly meeting is at Regents Park on the 12th, but prior to that we have a breakfast run scheduled to the Scarborough Hotel on July 10th.
Busy enough for you all?
We have something for everyone!
The only thing we don’t have is a crystal ball, so if you are going to attend any club event, please let the contact listed in your magazine or web forum know, so we can best cater for the number of members attending.
At last month’s meeting, we had two special guests from Harvey Norman’s World of Flooring, Special Projects Division. Garry Hayres and Alexandra Parker have offered a great deal to Corvette Club members in need of new floor coverings. Whether it is a special garage floor, carpet for the bedroom, vinyl, or floating timber that you are after, they can do you a deal at wholesale prices, and the club will earn a five percent commission on your purchase. When you identify the product you are after at your Harvey Norman store, contact Garry or Alexandria on 1300 737768 and they will give you their special rate on your chosen product. From the examples Garry gave us, you could easily save a further 30% or more off store pricing, and your club will earn a few dollars as well.
As you may know, we have been negotiating with Totally Home Bella Vista to move our very successful annual car show from March to Spring. This move will have a couple of key benefits for our club. Firstly, as we are hosting the National Corvette Convention in early April (Easter) next year, we did not want to be clashing with that event and detracting from it in any way. Two major events within a few weeks would see interstate visitors choosing between them, and probably not attending both. Several other events also occur around this time of the year including the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide and NCRS events, all of which compete for attendance.
The move to spring would also allow us to have this event in a cooler month with half of March’s rainfall!
We are exploring some new attractions for Bella Vista to generate some more public interest in this day, which is a very important one for us to showcase our unique cars. At our last March show, the public car park was full all day, showing that our Corvettes have huge drawing power.
So mark Sunday September 25th 2011 in your diary. No you won’t have to wait until Spring 2012 to polish your ‘Vette, as we will be back at Bella Vista for a second time in 2011! And this is only a couple of months away!
Entry forms will be included in next month’s magazine and will be available to download from the forum as well.
I look forward to a record breaking attendance On September 25th.
Those of you who are on our email list would have received documents from us a few weeks ago relating to the Armor All Auto Show at the Homebush Round of the V8 Supercars on December 2-3-4 2011. We have again been invited to present some of our finest Corvettes at this show over the three days of the V8’s event. The cars must be in the venue by Thursday afternoon, and cannot be moved out until after the racing ends on Sunday afternoon. Entry cost is $55 which includes the Saturday night concert. Cars are selected from their application form with photos attached, and judging of entries will occur over the weekend. You may recall that Charlie Spiteri and Murray Foreman were successful last year, when we had fifteen or so ‘Vettes on display.
If you did not receive a direct invitation from the organizers, Raceline Events, or did not receive our emailed invitation and entry form a few weeks ago, but would like to enter your Corvette in this prestigious show, please contact Tracy or myself, and we will post an entry form to you.
Both Bella Vista and the Homebush event are high profile events which give our chosen marque of cars great public exposure, and I hope to receive a high level of entrant support from our Club members for both events.
Until next month,
I hope to see you on a run somewhere soon.
Gary Nelson
