One event I had really been looking forward to is the go-kart day, held on the 1st July, as organised by Nick Zankiewicz and Joe Chaloub. We've been talking about having such an event and I'm really pleased at how these guys have stepped up to the plate and organised it. Thanks guys.
A major issue that I need to raise with all of our members is that of life club membership and the establishment of some formal guidelines/expectations which future members would need to satisfy in order to qualify for this honour within our club. For those who are unaware, lifetime membership is primarily an honour of recognition of service and commitment to our club. The only ongoing benefit that the five current lifetime members have is that they are not required to pay yearly dues (although it must be noted many of our life members still do this at their own discretion). The matter of guidelines for bestowing this honour on additional club members beyond the existing five life members was brought up and discussed at last years AGM at which time the committee was charged with brainstorming some possible criteria before feeding it back to you the members for discussion and possibly a future vote at our next AGM. This being the case I would like to put forward the terms that the committee considers to be sound core requirements for a member to qualify for this honour.
Proposed criteria for becoming a life member.
20 years membership
3 years service on the committee
Having owned or own a Corvette
Any club member can nominate but said nomination must be seconded by a life member, providing the said nominated have met items 1 t0 3 above
Said nominated life member to be voted in at AGM
If you would like to discuss this matter with any of the committee, amongst your fellow members at a future meeting, or with myself you are welcome to do so as we will need to discuss this matter amongst you the members so as to try to arrive at a consensus that most people are happy with prior to moving towards implementing the final requirements at a future AGM.
On a final note, Cameron will be addressing this in his report but it is good to see Bob Lynn on the road to recovery after recent events. Our thoughts are with you Bob.
Until next month be safe and enjoy your club.
Drive safe
Andrew
