PRESIDENTS REPORT.

May 2007

Well, now that Easter has passed us by I hope those of you who celebrate the holiday enjoyed it. While on the subject of the Easter break our club was well represented at this years National Corvette Convention hosted by the QLD Corvette Club. For those of you who are interested our friends in the QLD Corvette Club have sent us down a breakdown of the entrant numbers by club:

Queensland Corvette Club: 91 people
Corvettes Down Under Car Club: 18
NSW Corvette Unlimited Car Club: 79
Corvettes of Canberra: 18
Corvettes of Melbourne: 14
Vic Vettes: 16
South Australian Corvette Club: 26
Corvettes of Western Australia: 19
Visitors from USA (members of NSW Corvettes Unlimited): 2
Sponsors: 7

In total 290 adults along with 9 children and 4 babies officially attended the event as entrants.

Moving on from some of the statistics of the Convention weekend, I have to say aside from having a ball myself, I really walked away from the weekend feeling very proud of our members and to be a part of this club. Throughout the weekend every member I saw was being friendly to each other, joking around, and going out of their way to help one another when needed - and to me that is what it is all about... One of our members spent two days of his convention downstairs in the car park helping a fellow enthusiast out. This person had no vested interest aside from seeing the person who was having trouble with their car get it working again. He is not the only person who pitched in and helped someone out over the weekend but it was the effort that stood out for me over the whole weekend. I'd like to congratulate and thank everyone who went for how well they represented their club in QLD.

Brad and Sandy Stumer and their fellow QLD Corvette Club members are to be commended for putting together a professional and thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Next years Convention will be hosted in Adelaide and entry forms will be distributed as soon as we receive them in quantity. In the meantime, we have a copy of next years entry form on our club forum.

The time of year for membership renewals is also upon us already. To this end, membership renewals will be sent out at the end of May prior to the next club meeting, so you can bring your renewal to the June meeting or post it in at your convenience before the end of June when memberships are due.

There are plenty of runs on over the next month, so check out this newsletter and see what tickles your fancy.

For those of you who are keen, we will be announcing details of the next inter-club "Corvette Challenge" shortly, details are being pulled together at present and will hopefully be finalised soon. Watch this space for details.

Until next month, drive safe and enjoy.

Andrew
