President’s Report May 2009

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter break, and ate plenty of chocolate Easter Eggs.

A good number of our members ventured down to Canberra for the 21st National Corvette Convention held over the Easter Weekend. Congratulations to the Canberra Club for a good weekend

N.S.W. Corvette club members did well at the show and shine, with Nick our events coordinator taking out the Peoples Choice, and first in his class. Congratulations to all of our members who won in their respective classes.
It was and is always good to catch up with our Interstate members and swap stories of past events and things that have happened over the past year.

We had a great cruise to Goulburn [approx 80 Vettes] to the Hot Rod Nationals which had over 750 Rods on display.
As we are 3 years out from hosting the Nationals we will have to put our thinking caps on to decide where we will hold the convention. Do we aim for Sydney or a provincial country town?

If you know of anyone that could or would like to be a sponsor of the convention no matter how small or large, let us know so they can be approached.

By the time you read this report we would have attended GM day at Penrith Panthers and if we have the same attendance as we had last year, it will be a good display of Corvettes. Many thanks again to Michael K. our GM Rep.

I will be organizing our Annual Brass Monkey run in June and this year we will be travelling to the Megalong Valley Tea House. I have given an invitation for the Mustang Club to join us on this cruise and they very interested in joining us. See the events calendar for details.

A big reminder to those that would like to attend the Xmas in July at Gledswood. We need numbers and final payment by June or the event will be cancelled. See Jenny if interested.

As previously discussed we are looking for a new venue to hold our monthly club meetings, I can report that we have found a new location. We will commence our meetings on the 2nd Tuesday in July 2009. Until then it will be at the Greyhound Club for the months of May and June. All information will be in the Newsletter and on the clubs Website.

The management of the new club is and has been extremely helpful to us in everyway. They have a very good selection of meals at reasonable prices in a very relaxed atmosphere. There is off street parking which can be viewed from the meeting room.-Vette friendly if you wish to drive your vette.

The membership renewals will have been posted to you by the time you read this report, get them back to us A.S.A.P. so we can keep our records up to date.

Over the coming months there is a lot happening in your club, so check the events calendar.
As I always say, "do it in a Vette"

Bob Lynn.
