President’s Report September 2007

Recently Cameron gave me a call to break some news to me. Due to his partner Michelle's being diagnosed with Breast cancer he had made the decision to stand down so as to commit his full attention to supporting Michelle. This news saddened me in several ways aside from the obvious sadness and concern for Michelle and Cameron. Aside from being a good friend, Cameron has been my right hand since we were both elected to our most recent positions within this club and as I have told Cameron, I could not have asked for a better person to work with and be my vice.

I have been able to trust and rely on Cameron implicitly no matter what the matter at hand has been and being lucky enough to work with someone such as Cameron is something I am most appreciative of, working with Cameron was a true team effort. I think all of you who have met Cam or gotten to know him will understand what I am talking about. Cam will still be around but not in the capacity of Vice President due to the current priorities in his life. I hope you will all join me in thanking Cameron for his sincerely committed service to our club and wish him and Michelle all the best.

At our last meeting we discussed the proposed terms for Life Membership mentioned in a prior report of mine. Following discussion at the last meeting the terms have been amended so that what will be put forward for voting at the next AGM will be as follows:
Proposed criteria for becoming a life member.
* 20 years club membership
* 5 years significant and perceptible service to the club
* Any club member can nominate but said nomination must be seconded by a life member, providing the said nominated have met items 1 t0 3 above
* Said nominated life member to be voted in at AGM

Whilst on the subject of the AGM, it is next month! So if you would like to have some firsthand input as to who represents your club, please come along (or your delegation/proxy if you live too far away to attend and want to have a say). I'd also encourage anyone who has entertained thoughts of standing for any of the positions to feel free to come forward or ask one of the committee members if you are keen but unsure what exactly the position involves.

You would have all received your entry form for our upcoming Show 'n' Shine on Pyrmont Bridge, Darling Harbour on 21st October 2007. I hope to see as many of you there as possible so as to make for a good day, hopefully the weather will be better to us than it was last year. If you do plan on coming, please send us your entry form at your earliest convenience to assist us with planning.

Also, elsewhere in the newsletter you will see information on this years Corvette Challenge to be held at GMH's Lang Lang proving ground. The Melbourne Club put on a good weekend so check out the details elsewhere in this newsletter.

Enjoy yourselves everyone.
