Northern Report December 2008
Vettes in The Vines - November 15 and 16
“Vettes in the Vines” got away to a bad start for Col with the steering or the lack of it.
Owing to a very small grub screw and keyway, Col had to lead the way in his “Ford
Vette”. Saturday afternoon saw 12 of us set off in The “CHEERS” bus to taste some
excellent boutique wines. To finish the afternoon off with cheeses & chocolates |
Happy Hour couldn’t come quick enough for ‘The Bourbon Kid’ who’s not a wine taster at all. Meeting up with Trevor and Kerein, now new members, there were 16 for dinner Saturday night with thanks to Ray and staff for a great meal.
Sunday morning saw 7 Vettes plus 1 Ford at the motel waiting for the convoy of 11 Vettes from the Northern Division and Sydney. A big thanks to the Northern Division for their support. What an impressive sight: 18 Corvettes through ‘The Vines’ with many comments this week from ‘The Locals’ who happened to ‘Hear and See’ us pass by on the way. We picked up a late starter at The Vineyard for a total of 19 Vettes, 1 Cobra and 1 Ferrari (owned by Richard, the owner of The Pokolbin Estate). What a collection on the lawn!
A great showing with the Black ’56 taking out the People’s Choice Trophy plus the picnic pak and bottle of wine, so if you missed 2008 Vettes in the Vines the date has been set for 2009 – book early as it will be standing room only on the bus tour and tents in the car park at the motel. It will be bigger and better in 2009.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Col Clarke for organising a great weekend and car show. I am looking forward to working with Col for the 2009 plans of inviting other car clubs to join in on this event.
